Two men, Sainey Batchilly and Almameh Kambia, on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy, housebreaking, and stealing at the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.
The two men appeared before Principal Magistrate Sallah Mbai and Batchilly entered his plea in Mandinka, while Kambia did it in English. Both denied all charges brought by the prosecution.
According to the charged sheet, the first count accused the men of conspiracy to commit a felony under Section 341 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025, allegedly on or about December 10, 2025, in Senegambia. Counts two and three relate to housebreaking and theft of £910 (approximately D77,350) from the residence of Sharron Gillian and Marc Gregory.
The court did not hear any evidence during Tuesday’s proceedings as it was limited to plea taking. The magistrate ordered that the accused be remanded at Mile Two Central Prison and the prosecution did not object to that.
The case was then adjourned to January 12th 2026, for further hearing.
