The ‘Shooting Star FC’ football team of Jula-Kunda village in Kiang West District, Lower River Region (LRR), over the weekend held their football tournament final in honor of their fallen colleague, Molfa Darboe, who passed away during his ‘Back-way journey to Europe last year
Mamalang Darboe took the kick-off on behalf of both the Darboe Kunda family within Jula-Kunda and Manduar and attended by the deceased family members and prominent members within the community.
Shortly before Mamalang Darboe took the kick-off, he commended the organizers (‘Shooting Star FC’) for their good initiative to their departed colleague, Molfa Daboe.
He also hailed the deceased family both in Manduar and Jula-Kunda for their financial donation to ‘Shooting Star FC’ towards the successful hosting of the football match.
Mamalang Darboe, also on behalf Darboe Kunda family, sent his appreciation to both Jula-Kunda residents and those in Kombo for being supportive of the football match.
The Shooting Star FC football team members in the like of Alieu Darboe, Ba-Alimameh Sanneh, Pabi Daffeh, and Lamin Daffeh, both said, they named the tournament after the late Molfa Darboe to remember him and the contribution he made towards the development of the Jula-Kunda community.
“We are hereby expressing our appreciation to the deceased family, both in Manduar and Jula-Kunda, for their financial contribution towards the football match. As colleagues to late, Molfa Darboe, we will continue to remember him and always pray for him so that ‘Allah the Almighty’ can forgive his shortcomings and grant him Jannatul Firdaws-Ameen Yarabi,” said Shooting Star FC members.
The football match was played between ‘Brighter Star FC’ and ‘Milan FC’, where at the end of the full 90 minutes of the match, the game ended with a 1-1 draw. When they settled for post-match penalties, ‘Bright Star FC scored 2 goals while Milan FC’ scored 4 goals. Both teams went home with prizes.
