In a historic move, the executive committee of the Sports Journalists’ Association of The Gambia (SJAG) officially launched its Welfare and Solidarity Committee during a ceremony held at Seaview Gardens in Kololi on Tuesday.
The committee, chaired by veteran sports broadcaster Tijan Massaneh Ceesay, is tasked with promoting member welfare, fostering solidarity initiatives, and organizing remembrance activities.
Other appointed members include Bakary B. Baldeh, Pa Lamin Fatty, John Bass, Sara Camara, Binta Jarju, and Saikou Sanneh.
The launch event was attended by prominent figures in the Gambian sports and media sectors, including Mr. Muhammed Janneh, Executive Director of the Gambia National Olympic Committee; Mr. Sheriff Saidykhan, Vice President of The Gambia Press Union; and Mr. Modou Njie, representing the national sports council.
SJAG extended congratulations to all committee members and wished them success in their new roles.
