Two residents of Brikama, Saikou Camara and Ebrima Camara, on Tuesday appeared before the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on a charge of assault causing actual bodily harm, in violation of Section 196 of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.

Court records stated that the incident occurred on 11 November 2025 in Brikama, Kombo Central, where the accused allegedly assaulted Modou Jen with a bottle, a stone, and a cutlass, inflicting injuries on several parts of his body.

Both men denied assaulting the complainant. They told the court that the injuries resulted from a fight that broke out between them and Jen.

The court entered a plea of “not guilty” for each accused person.

Police prosecutor Sgt. E. Fofana requested an adjournment to allow the prosecution to call its first witness. He did not oppose bail for the accused.

Magistrate K. Sambu granted bail in the sum of D50,000 each, with one Gambian surety required to deposit a valid national identity card.

The case was adjourned to 26 January 2026 for the hearing of the first prosecution witness.
