By: Kemo Kanyi

Talib Ahmed Bensouda, the leader of Unite Movement for Change has called on Gambians to take ownership of the movement to drive a change for a better nation.

Talib, the KMC Mayor made the call during the inaugural meeting of his movement held on Sunday.

During the meeting, the KMC Mayor emphasizes that the Unite Movement for Change symbolises integrity, transformation, and inclusion as it doesn’t leave anyone behind.

Expressing his appreciation to the people who had since registered their support for the movement, he stated that the response was amazing and urged citizens to work hard and solicit more support for the movement.

“Go out! tell your family and friends that this is a movement for all of you. It is a movement for all Gambians who are yearning for change in this country. So please encourage your friends and your families to do the mobilisation. It is not my movement. It doesn’t belong to anybody. It belongs to all of you. This is a call for action, and I’m happy that people are responding,” Bensouda said.

He described the movement as people-led and will soon be transformed into a truly inclusive political party.

Meanwhile, the Unite Movement for Change has established various committees to oversee its affairs. The Secretariat and Administrative Committee, Communication Committee, National Mobilisation Drive Committee, Fundraising Committee, and Constitutional Building Committee were all announced at the gathering.

Among the speakers is UDP’s long-term loyalist Ebrima Dibba, who urges citizens to rally their support behind the Unite Movement for Change for the realisation of a change that Gambians yearn to achieve, adding that he never thought of turning his back on UDP. Still, he says the time has come for him to turn a new page in politics.
