The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC) has announced that 50 athletes have been selected to represent the country at two major international competitions later this year the Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia and the African Youth Games in Angola.
According to the GNOC, the athletes will compete between November 7 and December 20, with 24 athletes set to participate in the Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, scheduled from November 7 to 21 under the Islamic Solidarity Sports Association (ISSA).
A further 26 athletes will travel to Luanda, Angola, for the African Youth Games, which will take place from December 10 to 20, 2025.
The GNOC said the initiative is part of its commitment to providing young athletes with the opportunity to showcase their talents on the international stage. It urged the athletes to give their best and bring home accolades that the country can celebrate, while reaffirming its full support for their participation in both competitions.
