The Gambia Police Force has issued a stern warning to motorists, urging strict adherence to traffic regulations amid rising concerns over reckless driving practices.
In a press release dated September 25, 2025, the force highlighted the growing trend of drivers taking shortcuts at roundabouts, particularly along OIC Road and other key intersections.
Such manoeuvres, often intended to avoid completing a full turn, disrupt traffic flow and pose serious safety risks, especially during peak hours.
“Traffic regulations exist to ensure order, safety, and convenience for every road user,” the Police Force stated, emphasizing that other behaviour undermines road discipline and endangers lives.
The Force warned that it would no longer tolerate violations. Effective immediately, offenders will face fines, penalties, and possible legal action in accordance with the law. Authorities stressed that strict enforcement measures would be applied to all drivers who disregard the rules.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution and respect traffic laws to prevent accidents and maintain smooth traffic flow. The Police Force also called on the public to cooperate in promoting road safety, discipline, and respect for the rule of law.
