PASTEF Wants Immediate Action to Safeguard Peace in The Gambia

By Isatou Sarr

PASTEF The Gambia has joined the international community in commemorating the International Day of Peace 2025, emphasizing the urgent need to build and maintain peace in the country.

To mark the Day, PASTEF issued out a statement on 21st September 2025 under the theme: “Act Now for a Peaceful Gambia.”

In the statement, the Patriotic Alliance for System Transformation, Emancipation through Functionalism (PASTEF) described the theme as a call to action that is both urgent and long overdue.

PASTEF’s Public Relations and Communications Officer, Mr. Mayorra Sidibeh, says true peace goes beyond the mere absence of conflict. He stresses that it includes justice, transparent governance, respect for human rights, equitable access to public services, and accountability at all levels.

“Unfortunately, The Gambia is facing rising threats to peace that demand immediate and collective attention,” Mr. Sidibeh said.

As a political movement committed to transformational change, PASTEF urged all Gambians including citizens, civil society, political actors, and institutions, especially the government to work together to strengthen the foundations of a peaceful and just nation.
