Omar Colley, a resident of Kuloro Village yesterday appeared before Brikama Magistrates’ Court charged with a single count of stealing, contrary to Section 226 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025.
Appearing before the Presiding Magistrate I.O. Njie, the accused pleaded “not guilty” when the charge was read out to him.
According to the charge sheet, the alleged incident occurred on or about 4th September 2025, at Pirang, in the West Coast Region.
Colley is accused of stealing from Ebrima Manneh a bag containing D450 in cash, an iPhone 8 Plus valued at D8,000, and a BYD mobile phone valued at D2,000, bringing the total value of the stolen items to D10,450.
After the charge was read and explained to him in court, Colley pleaded not guilty.
The prosecuting officer, Corporal 7232 E. Fofana, who represented the Inspector General of Police (IGP), applied for an adjournment to enable the prosecution secure its witnesses. He did not object to the accused being granted bail.
Magistrate Njie granted the prosecution’s application and subsequently granted Colley bail in the sum of D15,000 with one Gambian surety.
The case was adjourned to 7th October 2025, for the prosecution to call its first witness.
