By: Haruna Kuyateh

Traffic has resumed along the Jamagen to Kuntair Road following the emergency repair of a damaged culvert that collapsed last Thursday due to heavy rainfall.

The road is a key route linking Barra to Farafenni and beyond

and the reconstruction was spearheaded by the National Roads Authority (NRA) in collaboration with CSE Company much to the relief of commuters and motorists, who had been severely affected by the disruption.

North Bank Region Governor, Lamin Saidykhan, commended the swift intervention by the NRA and its acting Director for promptly mobilizing engineers and contractors to address the issue. He noted that while the repair was temporary, the NRA has assured that a standard bridge will be constructed during the dry season.

Governor Saidykhan also praised Chief Alpha Mariam Khan of Jokadou and local authorities for their unwavering support, which he said was crucial to the success of the intervention.

He thanked drivers and passengers for their patience and called on commercial drivers to restore normal transport fares, now that traffic flow has resumed.

Authorities further commended President Adama Barrow for infrastructure projects like the Hakalang Road, which continue to transform communities in Nuimi and Jokadou.
