Young Boys Stars of Jambanjelly and Jaliba United of Nyambai got off to a strong start in the Brikama Sports Committee (BSC) Summer Nawettan, each securing victories in their opening matches.
In a commanding display, Young Boys Stars defeated Misira Youths 2-0, thanks to a brilliant brace from Modou Lamin Marong. The Jambanjelly-based side dominated proceedings throughout the match, controlling possession, creating multiple scoring chances, and maintaining pressure on their opponents.
Despite spirited attempts from Misira Youths to bounce back, they were repeatedly denied by a disciplined and resolute Young Boys defense, who remained composed and focused throughout the 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, in a heated Nyambai derby, Jaliba United edged out rivals Jambarr Sanneh with a narrow 1-0 victory. Super-substitute Ebrima Jabbie netted the match-winner in the 72nd minute, sending the large crowd at the Brikama Boxba Mini Stadium into celebration.
The match lived up to expectations, marked by high intensity, strong tackles, and passionate support from both sets of fans.
Elsewhere, Busumbala Kids United and Citizens FC played out a goalless draw in their opening Nawettan fixture. Both teams created chances but were unable to break the deadlock, sharing the spoils in a tightly contested encounter.
