Landing Jatta, a Gambian man, has appeared before Magistrate Dem at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court on a single count – “malicious injury to property.” The charge is contrary to Section 290(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 2025.
According to the prosecution, on or about August 20, 2025, at Madina Salam in the West Coast Region, Jatta willfully and unlawfully destroyed okra vegetables belonging to Fatou Saidy, Jariatou Saidy, Wuday Saidy, Mariama Darboe, and Bintou Ceesay. The total value of the destroyed vegetables was estimated at forty thousand dalasis (D40,000.00).
When the charge was read to him, Jatta pleaded not guilty.

The case has been adjourned to September 17, 2025, for the hearing of the first prosecution witness.
