GNOC President Speaks Ahead of CAVB Beach Volleyball in Gambia

Bai Dodou Jallow, the president of the Gambian National Olympic Committee (GNOC), has spoken about The Gambia’s preparation as it hosts the U-18 Africa Volleyball Confederation competition.

Mr Jallow said everything is going on smoothly. The local organising committee has started working both on the grounds but also the resource mobilisation aspect and all the other logistics for the hotel accommodation are being done successfully.

He stated that Gambia has been hosting a lot of zonal competitions and a few continental competitions, but this is a much bigger one.

“It shows the level of the game has grown in this country and the trust that outside stakeholders like the Federation of International Volleyball and the CAVB have in us to give us this big competition to host. So we are getting ready, we have informed the government, we have written to partners and the response we are getting, hopefully it will be supported very well. We are also preparing our team so that we perform very well at home ground. We don’t want to be beaten. It has to be our land, our cup,” he stated.

The GNOC president added that African volleyball teams are preparing for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. He said that The Gambia is also among the top volleyball teams in Africa, bringing them together and having training programmes for them. The first edition will be held here in the Gambia, so it’s a big honour, so it’s a big pride. It’s also a big competition because FIVB, CAVB, and Olympic Solidarity joined hands to support this event.
