In a thrilling Serekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) Super Cup final on Sunday, Spurs FA of Sukuta emerged victorious after a tense 5-4 penalty shootout win over Milan FC, following a 2-2 draw in regulation time.
The match, held at the Serekunda East Mini-Stadium, lived up to its billing with an electrifying first half that produced all four goals of the encounter.
Spurs FA made an early statement just three minutes into the game, as Malang Daffeh fired them into the lead. However, the Tallinding-based Milan FC responded almost immediately, with team captain Omar Badjie equalizing in the 6th minute, setting the tone for a fiercely contested battle.
The momentum continued as Muhammed Cham gave Milan the lead in the 37th minute, only for Daffeh to complete his brace two minutes later, levelling the score at 2-2 and sending the Sukuta supporters into celebration. The teams headed into the break with the score tied and everything still to play for.
The second half saw both sides pressing for a winner but also exercising caution, displaying solid defensive discipline. Despite several chances, neither team could find a breakthrough, and the game headed into a penalty shootout.
In the end, it was Spurs FA who held their nerve, converting five spot kicks to Milan FC’s four, clinching the Super Cup title in dramatic fashion.
Spurs FA came into the match as last season’s League Cup champions, while Milan FC had won the Knockout Cup, setting the stage for a fierce showdown between two of SESDO’s top sides.
The win marks another milestone for Spurs FA, whose players and fans celebrated the triumph with passion and pride.
