IGP Presides Over Inauguration of Mobile Traffic Unit Office Building

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Seedy Mukhtar Touray on Thursday presided over the inauguration ceremony of Mobile Traffic Unit building at the Kanifing Mobile Police Headquarters.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the newly-established Kanifing Mobile Traffic Unit, the IGP said: “highway patrol officers are given motorbikes and patrol vehicles to monitor the entire stretch of the highway twenty-four hours,” describing it as a mandate that will instil discipline on the public roads.

IGP, Touray emphasized that any driver found wanting would be issued a mandatory fine or arraign before a competent court of law to be tried and sanctioned accordingly.

Also speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Commissioner for Mobile Traffic Lamin King Colley said that the newly established complex was a remarkable gesture, adding that it was a well-deserved investment of recognition for the work traffic police officers underscored over the years through patients and dedication.

“For years our officer has work under challenging conditions, often without headquarters, infrastructure to match the demands of modern traffic management this new office changed that reality,” he said.

He disclosed that the newly established traffic police KMC is a testament for their achievements which according to him was a prove of road safely which was not only championed by the police but supported by its partners, Comium GSM Company.

He went further to say that such investment would add value to the country, noting that the Mobile Tariff and the entire police force appreciated the good will gesture from Comium GSM Company.
