Seven Gambian men have been remanded at Mile Two Prison after their appearance before Kanifing Magistrates’ Court charged with “common nuisance,” on Tuesday, 19th August.
Appearing before Magistrate T. Touray, all the accused persons pleaded “not guilty” to the charge. They are: Mo Lamin Cham, Omar Mbaye, Musa Bojang, Gibbie Camara, Sarjo Darboe, Lamin Dibba, and Pabie Jammeh.
Sgt E. Jallow represented the Inspector General of Police, while the accused were unrepresented. They were each charged with a single count of “common nuisance,” contrary to Section 137(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025.
According to the particulars of the offence, on 16th August 2025, at Kololi Tavan in the Kanifing Municipality, the accused, in exercise of their common rights, allegedly obstructed or caused annoyance, danger, and inconvenience to the public, thereby committing an offence.
The prosecution requested an adjournment to call witnesses to prove the case and objected to bail, citing concerns for the safety and peace of the Kololi Tavan neighbourhood.
Magistrate Touray granted the adjournment and ordered that the accused remain in custody at Mile 2 State Central Prison until 1st September 2025 at 12:00 pm, when the evidence in chief of the first prosecution witness will be presented.
