The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Salam Financial Services (formerly Supersonics Microfinance), Mr. Ndungu Fatty, has officially announced his intention to contest the presidency of the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI).
Preparations are at an advanced gear for GCCI’s forthcoming annual general election, scheduled for 5th September 2025.
Making the announcement over the weekend at his office, Mr. Fatty emphasizes the importance of carefully selecting a leader who can steer the Chamber over the next three years. The outgoing GCCI President, Mr. Edi Mass Jobe, is credited with achieving unprecedented milestones during his tenure, thanks to his leadership and extensive experience in the business sector.
“I feel confident to contest for the presidency of GCCI and lead the Chamber towards a better future not for personal gain, but for the greater good of the Gambian private sector,” Mr. Fatty told the media.
He revealed that his campaign manifesto, dubbed “Hexapro,” focuses on promoting inclusivity and diversity, with an emphasis on gender balance, youth participation, and regional representation in business activities. He also underscored the importance of ensuring that GCCI delivers tangible value to its members while safeguarding the welfare of its staff.
He also highlighted the Chamber’s focus on strengthening its financial sustainability and enhancing its role in cross-border trade and regional commerce. In addition, Mr. Fatty emphasized the importance of supporting Gambian employers in developing a more efficient and productive workforce, reflecting his broader agenda for advancing the private sector.
He seized the opportunity to appeal to the general membership of the Chamber to support his candidature, citing his prior experience as GCCI Treasurer and his thorough understanding of the Gambian private sector.
An accomplished entrepreneur, Mr. Fatty boasts over 25 years of experience in technology, finance, banking, and corporate strategy across both the public and private sectors. He co-founded two major Gambian companies: Lasting Solutions Limited, employing 35 people, and Salam Financial Services Limited, with over 180 employees.
With his campaign officially underway, the GCCI membership is set to decide who will lead the organization into the next phase of growth and development.
