The Appeals and Disciplinary Committee of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has upheld the Organizing Committee’s decision in the case involving Ali Sowe FC’s appeal over the Greater Banjul play-off match between Sibanor United and Ali Sowe FC.
Following the fixture, the Banjul-based club protested against Sibanor United, alleging the use of ineligible players during the match. After an investigation, the GFF Organizing Committee ruled in favour of Sibanor United.
Dissatisfied with the ruling, Ali Sowe FC lodged an appeal with the GFF Appeals and Disciplinary Committee. However, after a thorough review of all relevant documents including the master list and several match forms from the West Coast Region Third Division League the committee concluded that the players in question were legally registered members of Sibanor United.
In its verdict, the Appeals and Disciplinary Committee stated:
“After reviewing all documents related to the matter, the committee concludes that the said players are legally registered players of Sibanor United. In this regard, the committee resolves to uphold the decision of the Organizing Committee and dismiss your appeal.”
The committee further advised Ali Sowe FC that if they remain dissatisfied with the ruling, they have the right to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) as the next legal remedy, in accordance with the GFF Constitution.
