The National Assembly Member for Niamina Dankunku Constituency Hon. Samba Jallow has urged the government to do more towards citizens’ upliftement.
He raised concern over the general condition of life and high cost of living faced by most people in the country.
NAM Jallow who served as a member in the parliament from 2012 to 2025 and was former minority leader under ex-president Jammeh, raised the concern during an exclusive interview with, The Voice Newspaper held on Tuesday.
According to him, there is a dire need for government to improve on the lives and livelihood of the citizens through better and more tangible policies.
“Everybody is talking about the high cost of goods and services. We need to seriously work on our economy,” Hon Jallow said. “The government should improve on the lives and livelihood of citizens by putting in better fiscal policies and also monitor the situation so that people will not be affected by economic shock,” he added.
The former minority leader suggested that the country’s agriculture need to be fixed to give way to economic development and progress.
He emphasized that the most challenging moment during the last regime was being a minority leader. “Being a minority leader under Jammeh’s regime was tough because of the limited representation at the parliament. “The minority leader did not have the voice to convince the former majority leader and the caucus. This was how hard issues were previously,” he recalled.
