AJ Soccer FC and North Star FC have secured promotion to the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) League Division Two after a strong showing in the regional playoff campaign.
AJ Soccer, champions of the Lower River Region (LRR) Third Division League, began their playoff journey with a 2-2 draw against Niani FC. They then delivered an emphatic 4-1 victory over North Star FC to seal their place in the second tier of Gambian football.
North Star FC, representing the North Bank Region, had earlier booked their spot by defeating Niani FC 2-1 in a tightly contested match.
The two sides will now join established Division Two clubs such as Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), RS Tallinding, and Elite United next season. They will be aiming either to maintain their league status or push for promotion to the GFF First Division.
AJ Soccer will join Suwo Kono FC in representing the Lower River Region in Division Two, marking a significant achievement for the region’s football development. Meanwhile, North Star FC stands as the sole representative from the North Bank Region, following Essau United’s relegation after a disappointing campaign last season.
Their promotion adds fresh competition to the second division and underscores the growing talent emerging from regional football in The Gambia.
