Eight newly appointed officials were on Monday sworn into office by the Hon. Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow at a formal ceremony held at the High Court complex in Banjul.
The group includes five Notaries Public and three Commissioners for Oaths and Affidavits. The occasion marks a significant step in reinforcing the country’s legal framework and ensuring broader access to justice services.
In his address, Chief Justice Jallow congratulated the appointees and urged them to serve with integrity and dedication. “Live up to expectations, serve with integrity, and be available to offer services,” he advised.
The officials sworn in as Notaries Public are Mr. Dawda Sowe, Ms. Anna Maclean, Mr. Sulaiman K. Saidy, Mr. Salieu E. Jobe, and Mr. Ebrima Solo Jallow. Those appointed as Commissioners for Oaths and Affidavits are Mr. Sarjo KM Keita, Mr. Ma Lamin Sonko, and Mr. Alieu Badara Awe.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr. Salieu E. Jobe expressed gratitude to the Judiciary for the trust bestowed upon them. He pledged that they would uphold the duties of their offices with diligence and professionalism.
“This appointment is a call to service, and we are committed to meeting the expectations of the Judiciary and the public,” Mr. Jobe said.
The swearing-in ceremony is part of the Judiciary’s continued efforts to expand legal services and uphold professional standards within the justice system. Notaries and Commissioners for Oaths play a critical role in authenticating legal documents and supporting court processes.
The event ended with formal congratulations and well-wishes from judicial officers and colleagues in attendance.
