The Brikama Magistrates’ Court Monday ordered Demba Camara to pay a fine of five thousand dalasis (D5000) or in default to face four (4) months jail-term.

Magistrate K.B Sambou, the presiding magistrate convicted and sentenced Mr. Camara based on his “guilty” plea which saved the court’s time.

Camara was tried and convicted on charges of threatening violence contrary to Section 84 of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01 Volume 3 Laws of The Gambia 2009.

The Prosecution officer Cpl 1038 H. Jatta who stood for the Inspector General of Police revealed that Camara on or about the 18th April, 2025 at Yarambamba, with intent to intimidate, insult, pounced and threatened to kill Ansumana Sidibeh, thereby committed an offence.

However, according to the magistrate, the charge Camara faced was one of misdemeanour and he took into consideration the fact that he did not waste the court’s time.

The court also said that in the interest of peace, the complainant was ordered to vacate Camara’s house and handover all the keys within  three (3) weeks.
