The National Assembly witnessed a tense exchange on Wednesday as Honorable Omar Jammeh, Member for Janjanbureh, challenged the Vice President over what he described as “an unsatisfactory response” to his question.

Hon. Jammeh had asked about the administrative costs and revenue management of the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara Conference Center.

During the parliamentary session, Hon. Jammeh sought a clear update on the financial management of the conference center, specifically requesting details on the administrative expenses of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Secretariat and how revenue from the conference centre was being handled.

However, the Vice President’s response centered largely on the on-going audit exercise covering the period from 2018 to December 2024, without providing specific figures or detailed explanations on the revenue or administrative costs.

Displeased, Hon. Jammeh pointed out that the Vice President’s answer did not directly address his questions, emphasizing that he expected clear information rather than a reference to the audit process.

The Vice President acknowledged the on-going audit and noted that until the audit report is finalized, exact figures may not be available. He assured the Assembly that once the report is completed, the details would be provided.
