Hon. Bubacarr Bah, a final-year student of Public and Environmental Health at the University of The Gambia (UTG), has officially taken the oath of office as the newly elected Sports Minister for the Student Association of Public and Environmental Health (UTG-SAPEH). The swearing-in ceremony took place on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, marking a new chapter in the association’s leadership.
Bah takes over from former Sports Minister Mr. Ibrahim Gassama, whose term has come to an end. The event also featured a comprehensive activity report presented by Secretary-General Mr. Pierre Jasseh, who outlined the achievements and milestones of the association since the beginning of 2024.
In an exclusive interview, Hon. Bah expressed gratitude to the delegates for entrusting him with the role.
> “I accepted this important role – a responsibility that I do not take lightly, and I promise to do my utmost best in living up to expectations,” he stated.
“Sports has always been a passion for me. I firmly believe it should be promoted and supported to deliver meaningful benefits, especially to the youth,” he added.
As a passionate advocate for youth engagement through sports, Bah is expected to bring energy and fresh ideas to SAPEH’s sporting agenda.

With Bah at the helm of SAPEH sports, many expect a renewed focus on inclusive and competitive student sports initiatives at UTG.
