Region 2 West were on Saturday crowned champions of the just-concluded inter-regional primary school football competition for boys held in Jarra Soma.
The participating regions were Region 1, Region 2 East and West, Region 3, Region 4, Region 5 North, and Region 6. The tournament was sponsored by Africell.
Region 2 West came from a goal down to win the boys’ category of the Primary Schools Inter-Regional Football Championship in grand style.
Lamin Jobe gave the hosts, Region 4, an early lead before Muhammad Camara and Musa Camara sealed a 2-1 victory for Region 2 West at the Jarra Soma Mini Stadium.
The win secured Region 2 West’s first trophy in the competition, while Region 4, whose slogan was “Our Land, Our Trophy,” saw their hopes dashed after losing the final.
Region 2 West were awarded a trophy, and all participants received certificates.
In the girls’ category, Region 2 East emerged winners after defeating Region 2 West 4-0.
