In a signing ceremony between Child Fund The Gambia and its partners, the organisation has pledged D89 million in support of children’s education across The Gambia.

The event, held at Ocean Bay Hotel in Bakau on Friday, marked the renewal of standard operations agreements between Child Fund and its partners.

The three partners are Dinding Yiriwa Federation, Saama Kaira Federation, and Foñi Dinding Federation.

The standard operations outline how the partnership will become more efficient and deliver timely services in a clear, transparent, and honest manner to ensure the development, protection, and safety of children, especially through financial support.

According to Musu Kuta Comma, Country Director for Child Fund The Gambia, the institution aims to be transparent about the funds it receives on behalf of children. She stressed that reaching the child and family with the intended services and benefits requires extensive discussions and engagement, urging partners to utilise the funds as intended by Child Fund and its sponsors.

“Today, we are signing D89 million that we are committed to disburse to these three partners on a monthly basis to make sure that they reach out to the children and their families,” Comma revealed.

She adds that if the goals of the agreement are to be met, everyone has a stake from the child, parents, and community leaders to technical staff and chairpersons of the various partner organisations.

The Country Director emphasised the need to safeguard children and advocated for their protection against physical, sexual, and emotional exploitation and abuse.

Omar S. Sanneh, speaking on behalf of the partners, assured their commitment to upholding the partnership by using the funds accurately and accountably for the benefit of children and their families.
