The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) has awarded Darboe’s FC three points and three goals after their opponents, Young Icons FC, failed to honour their week 19 fixture in the Women’s Second Division League.
According to the GFF, the decision was made by the Organising Committee, citing a violation of the federation’s rules and regulations. The committee noted that Young Icons failed to notify them of their inability to appear at least 48 hours before the scheduled match, as required by the rules.
“Therefore, Young Icons violated Article 9, Subsection 3: ‘In all cases where the Organising Committee is satisfied that a match is abandoned owing to the conduct of a team or its club member(s), it may award the points to the opponent,’” the GFF statement read.
