Football Hero FC are through to the semifinals of the Kanifing Municipality Regional Football Association (KMRFA) 3rd Division League after edging a dramatic quarterfinal clash 4-3 on penalties against fellow contenders Abuko South FC, following a goalless draw in regulation time.
In a tightly contested encounter, both sides demonstrated impressive defensive organization, making clear-cut chances hard to come by. The teams cancelled each other out in midfield, with neither side able to break the deadlock.
Despite several promising build-up plays, the match ended 0-0, forcing the tie to be decided from the penalty spot.
In the shootout, Football Hero FC held their nerve, converting four of their spot-kicks, while Abuko South FC missed two, sealing a 4-3 victory for the Tallinding-based side.
With the win, Football Hero FC advances to the semifinals of this year’s championship, continuing their impressive campaign and moving one step closer to promotion.
