The National People’s Party (NPP) has declared its firm readiness to face any opposition in the 2026 elections, confidently assuring Gambians that it will emerge victorious.
Speaking at the party’s first-ever National Executive Meeting held on Friday 20 June, at the newly inaugurated party headquarters in Bundung, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and NPP Deputy Spokesperson Honourable Seedy Njie delivered a clear and uncompromising message to political rivals.
“We don’t speak for other political parties, and for us, we are ever ready. Whoever wants to contest against the National People’s Party, we are ready and certain we are going to win them come 2026. The National People’s Party will be victorious,” Njie stated emphatically.
The meeting was described as a milestone event aimed at strengthening party unity, galvanizing support both domestically and across the region, and reaffirming commitment to the party’s core ideals. Njie highlighted the party’s progress since its formation, noting the trust earned from Gambians “village by village, ward by ward, region by region” and internationally.
Honourable Njie also addressed rumours about factionalism within the party, firmly dismissing claims of any splits and asserting that the NPP remains united and strong, with increased membership and organizational discipline.
The meeting passed several resolutions, which Njie promised would be communicated formally to party members and the public. He called on party members to renew their loyalty, stay close to the people, and remain responsive to the needs and aspirations of Gambians.
With 2026 fast approaching, the NPP is positioning itself for what it describes as an inevitable victory, pledging to continue its mission of transforming the nation’s social and economic landscape.
