Magistrate Thomas Touray of Kanifing Magistrates’ Court yesterday sentenced Mansour Cham to six-year imprisonment for the breaking and stealing offence pressed against him.

Mansour Cham admitted guilty of breaking into a building and stealing from it.

In his judgment, Magistrate Thomas Touray acknowledged that Mansour Cham did not waste the court’s time by owning up to his crime. He, therefore, sentenced him to four-year imprisonment on count one for ‘’breaking into building Contrary to section (284) with an intent to commit a felony.”

While on count two he was sentenced to another tw- year imprisonment for stealing contrary to section (252) and was also ordered to pay the sum of D100,000 compensations to the complainant failure of which, he would serve another six-month custodial jail term.

The Magistrate harped on the fact that the accused entered someone’s premises by breaking and could gradually be capable of harming the individual.
