The Gambia Car Dealership Association (GCDA) has formally submitted a request to the Inspector General of Police for a permit to hold a peaceful protest against government policies they say are crippling the automotive trade industry.
In a letter delivered Thursday at Police Headquarters in Banjul, the association outlined concerns including high import taxes, unfair regulations, unresolved land issues, and a lack of government support for local dealers.
“Our members are facing severe hardship due to these restrictive policies,” the letter stated, emphasizing that the demonstration will be non-violent, orderly, and conducted in full cooperation with the police.
The GCDA stressed its commitment to all legal requirements and requested a timely response from the IGP to proceed with preparations.
