Mai Fatty, leader for the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) has disclosed that the main focus of their Grand Alliance Coalition is geared towards continuity and consolidation.
This, he says, means that the alliance remains on it toes to achieve its goals despite criticisms from detractors.
Mr Fatty was addressing the media after the meeting of the Grand Alliance Coalition on Sunday. He highlighted that the conclave that was just concluded was a demonstration of unity, purposefulness, and a sense of patriotism among all stakeholders in the Grand Alliance. He said the objective of the meeting was directed towards national development.
“That is why we are here. That is what we are focused on. We will have the naysayers who will say everything, but there is no nation on earth that has everything correct. It’s a process, and we will continue to achieve that process,” he noted.
According to him, the Grand Alliance is united and there is a consensus on the way forward and how to achieve that consensus. Mr Fatty was quick to add that they might not achieve the continuation and consolidation until after 2026. “Now we are focused on that, and I can assure you that no amount of detraction is going to derail us. We will remain on the path of consolidation and continuity to achieve a total victory in the 2026 elections,” GMC leader affirmed.
He continues by saying that the Grand Alliance is very cognisant of the fact that development is a process. “It is a marathon, not a sprint. So, one can’t achieve everything at all times, and every problem can’t be solved at once,” adding that the commitment remains the strategic point for problem solving.
“But there is focused approach to the development challenges that this country is facing and there is a serious commitment to tackling them and we have seen real evidence in how the state has been managed so far,” Fatty stressed. However, he continues, he did not mean to say that everything is going right.
“Certainly, there are challenges we still have to face as a country, but what is more impressive is the willingness to work on them,” Fatty added.
He goes on to outline that governance is a very complex process because it is handling human existence, aspirations, and needs which are very fluid, adding that within that context, the Grand Alliance came for a meeting and a consultation of the minds in order to chart a very effective future for the Gambia.
