NAATIP Renews Commitment to Curb Human Trafficking in Gambia

The National Agency Against Trafficking in Person (NAATIP) has renewed its commitment to curb human trafficking in The Gambia. 

Isatou Dabo, the executive director of the agency, delivering a speech at an event held at the NaNA Hall on Monday, assured that her agency would embark on aggressive rehabilitation in order to curb the menace.

“Hands on commitment to suppress and eliminate the scourge of trafficking in persons and child labor in The Gambia and improve the quality of life of the trafficked persons and child laborthrough aggressive rehabilitation with our stakeholders, victims assistance and promotion of equality,” she stated during the convergence of stakeholders. 

The executive director assured her agency’s continued reliance on the national tools and mechanisms to deal with surging human trafficking and related issues. 

“NAATIP is fully committed to the prevention of all forms of human degradation and exploitation through the coordinated use of the nation’s crime prevention and law enforcement resources to stamp out and say no to trafficking in persons and other vulnerable groups, especially women and children from dehumanization and exploitative employment and to ensure with NAATIP implementing partners and stakeholders their rehabilitation and effective reintegration into society,” she recommends. 

She continued that the agency would administer the provisions of this act, initiate measures to inform and educate the public, including potential victims about the causes and consequences of trafficking, adopt measures to reduce the demand for commercial sex acts and for participation in international sex tourism by Gambians, and among other measures.
