GPA defeats Fortune, Hawks, Banjul Utd held in GFF 1st Division League

The Gambia Ports Authority (GPA) defeated Fortune FC 2-0, while Hawks FC and Banjul United were both held to a barren goalless draw during the week-18 fixtures of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) First Division League played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Wednesday.

The Ferry Boys, GPA now recorded their fifth victory of the season, while the defending champions, Fortune FC suffered their eight defeats of the season.

The Petroleum boys, Fortune FC overall registered six wins, three draws and eight defeats after 17 games, while GPA overall recorded five wins, six draws and six defeats after 17 matches.

The win moved GPA to 8th position with 21 points, leveling with Fortune FC, who sit 9th position.

Elsewhere, Hawks FC were held to a goalless draw by Marimoo FC during the late week-17 fixture played at the Stadium on Wednesday.

Hawks FC who are having an impressive run now conceded their third draw of the season, while Marimoo FC also recorded their seventh draw of the season.

The Reds, Hawks overall collected nine wins, three draws and five defeats after 17 games, while the Manjai-based team, Marimoo FC overall collected five wins, seven draws and five defeats after 17 encounters.

The draw moved Hawks FC at the top spot of the table with 30 after playing one game ahead, while Marimoo FC occupied 7th position with 22 points

Steve Biko played a goalless draw against Banjul United during their rescheduled week-15 fixture played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau on Wednesday.

The Beach Boys, Steve Biko now collected their fifth draw of the season, while Banjul United also recorded their fifth draw of the season.

The newly promoted side, Steve Biko overall collected five wins, five draws and five defeats after 15 games, while Banjul United registered five wins, five draws and six losses after 16 matches.

The draw earned both teams 20 points, with Banjul United sitting 11th position, while Steve Biko occupied 12th position.
