Koita starts season with win, Kintehs draw in GFF Women’s 2nd Division League

Koita FC started the GFF 2nd Division League with a win, while last year’s relegated side Kintehs FC were forced into a draw in their first game of the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) 2nd Division League played over the weekend.

The Gambia Football Federation (GFF) commenced its 10-team Women’s Second Division League season over the weekend with games played at Soma and Kiti respectively.

Koita FC recorded the biggest win at the start of the season after defeating Greater Tomorrow 3-1 in a game played at Kiti on Saturday.

Koita FC made a perfect start of the league while Greater Tomorrow inflicted their first defeat in their opening game.

The win moved Koita FC to top of the table with 3 points, while Greater Tomorrow sat at the rock-bottom-(10th) position with zero points after one game.

Elsewhere, Kintehs FC were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw against Foni Girls in a game played at Kiti on Friday.

Last year’s 1st Division relegated side Kintehs FC opened their 2nd Division League with a draw.

Foni Girls sit 4th position with 1 point, leveled with Kintehs and Future Bi respectively.

Jeshwang United defeated Lower Niumi 2-1 in a game played at the Soma mini-stadium on Friday.

The Jeshwang-based team will aim to continue their good start to the season, while Lower Niumi will also look to work on their weakness ahead of their subsequent games.

Jeshwang United moved 3rd position with 3 points leveled with Koita and Prison FC while Lower Nuimi dropped to the bottom of the table in 9th position with zero points.

Prisons FC won Young Icons 3-2 in a game played at the Soma mini-stadium on Saturday.

Prisons female team will want to continue with their winning streak, while debutants Young Icons missed the chance for a good start in their maiden opening game.

Prisons FC occupy 2nd position with 3 points leveled with Koita and Jeshwang United, while Young Icons sit 8th position with zero points.

The final game between Raptim and Future Bi which was supposed to be played in Kiti was postponed by the competition department of the Gambia Football Federation.

Meanwhile, in the week-2 fixtures of the GFF 2 Division League will see Kintehs FC playing Jeshwang United at Kiti and Young Icons entertaining Foni Girls on Friday.

On Saturday, Lower Nuimi will battle it out with Raptim at Soma mini-stadium; Future Bi will play Koita.

On Sunday, Greater Tomorrow will go up against Prisons at Kiti.
