Falcons Extend Lead to Five Points in Division Two

By: GFF

This year’s surprised package Falcons Football Club have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the second division table following a 2-1 come from behind defeat of Jarra West yesterday.

However, it wasn’t all rosy for the Abuko-based side as they were woken up from their early slumber only after the relegation threatened Jarrankas took a shock first half lead. In a match played at Bakau’s Independence Stadium, Lamin Sanneh’s charges fought back to ensure the win and are now on 38 points, five ahead of second place Samger who play sixth place Latrikunda United today at the Late Ousman Saho Football Field in Old Yundum.

In total, nine goals were scored across just two matches with Jam City attaining the bragging rights in a six-goal thriller against Bombada to win 4-2. With the win, Jam City has gone levelled on 33 points with Samger on the table but trailed on goal difference and having played a game more.

Samger will be hoping to return to winning ways against Latrikunda who themselves with 27 points could end the day on fourth and just three points adrift of their today’s rivals with a win. That will be the only match for today but there’ll be three on Thursday as Team Rhino entertains Red Hawks at the Live Your Dreams Football Complex in Basori while the ever-improving B4U Kiang West hosts 2nd Infantry Battalion of Farafenni at the Soma Mini Stadium and Serrekunda Eastbi faces off against Steve Biko in Old Yundum.
