GAP Urges  gov’t to put stop to killings

 By Binta Jaiteh

Opposition party, Gambia Action Party, has expressed “grave concern” about the spate killings in the country and called on the government to immediately look for a solution to the issue and put a stop to the killings.

The party’s press secretary Sheikhna Faal who spoke to The Voice newspaper blamed the ‘recent rampant killings on lack of security and an unemployment.
“The recent incident at Sanyang is unfortunate and we can vividly disclose to you that the murder case is the main issue and other factors were related that contributed for mass destruction of properties…. if the Government does not regard its citizen’s and allow foreign dominance in its economy,” he said.
He added: “such incident will keep on happening and the Sanyang incident was a combination of many factors and the murder case was just the sparkling fire. President Barrow should suspend his holiday and address the matter. How can you be on holiday as President while your people are in dilemma? Moreover, the dominance of Chinese and Senegalese in our economy is a big concern than we think.”

“We all expect every foreign national to abide by our laws,” he said, while he urged the government to protect lives and properties of the citizens.
“I believe that Government did not have the courage to address the cases and they have failed woefully.
He reminded that ‘elections are on the corner let’s move them out and allow serious parties who are hungry for development and GAP will be there to make the dream real.”
