Governor Saidykhan tours communities in NBR

Governor and Technical Advisory Committee of the North Bank Region (NBR) Monday embarked on a five-day familarization tour to of the region.

The familiarization tour was used to have discussions with district authorities on development issues. The meetings availed head of institutions opportunity to interact with alkalolu and know their challenges.

The meetings were held in different places which include Lower Niumi and Upper Nuimi, Lower Badibou and Jokadou.

Governor Lamin Saidykhan on his visit to the communities explained that the tour is meant to discuss and gather information about awareness and development need and challenges confronted the communities of NBR.

He said government attaches great importance to the improvement and wellbeing of the people. He noted that the outcomes of the meetings would help inform institutions, and NGOS to be aware and know the challenges of the region.

The Governor added that the tour will help to bring his office closer to district authorities and know their development issues. He therefore called on alkalolu to execute their duties and ensure communities compliance with rule of law.

Regional Police Commissioner Momodou Sowe assured of their continuous commitment to provide security to the region. He therefore called on everyone not to take law in to their hands.

In addition, he advised residents of each community in the region to control stray animals for the sake of emergency on the highway.

Chiefs Fabala Fadia Kinteh of Lower Badibou, Alpha Mariam Khan of Jokadou, George L Sonko of Lower Nuimi and Momodou Chatty Cham of Upper Nuimi all applauded Governor Saidykhan and TAC for the visit to listen and hear their developmental challenges.

Alagie Jawara Secretary to Technical Advisory Committee in NBR described the governor’s tour a success, citing that institutions were freely opened and shared their constraints and achievements.

Among other speakers at the tour were Alkalolu of Njawara, Ali Bah alkalo of Mbamori Kunda.
