Residents of Ebo Town Badala community have raised fear of concerns over this year’s rainy season, which is yet to be at its peak.

The residents in the past rain seasons have been facing destructions of properties. Reports show that the country will experience a torrential rain fall this year compare to the past years.

Mama Keita, a resident of Ebo Town Badala told The Voice in an interview “every rain season we encounter so many challenges because of limited water ways, because of inadequate space for water to flow and all the floods from the KMC area pass through Ebo Town Badala.”

She went further that “Whenever it rains her house is always filled with water which led to the destruction of most of her valuable properties. Last year I lost all my properties and my house was nearly damaged which was very challenging for me because I had to buy all those properties and bought cement to manage the situation,” she added.

Despite the difficulties facing in her community, she said, the government has never come to their aid and the condition in that area when it rain is terrible.

According to her when it rains at night, the residents will remain on their feet for the whole night to be on the safer side and do everything they can to control the flood from the compound.

More so, when it rains she said people have to be in a compulsory lockdown because they will not have access to go out as the entire community is filled with water and this always come with risk.

Another resident of the community, Belli Jah, said it is always difficult for them any time it rains as they struggle to keep themselves safe especially at night.

“We recently contacted KMC and our council but we don’t get no respond from them yet and we are appealing to them to come to our aid,” he appealed

He extended the appeal to the National Disaster Management Agency saying they are urgently in need of their help and support as their fears always high when it is cloudy.

Lamin Sanyang and Ebrima Ceesay also made appealed to the KMC and NDMA on this issue that is giving them sleepless night when it is about to rain or rained.
