Cross sections of Gambians have expressed their views as Gambia clocked 55 years since earning independence.

Speaking to The Voice, Ebrima Badgie a business man said: “The Gambia has achieved so much within 55years starting from political, social, education, health, Tourism and others “The Gambia gained independence in 1965 under the rule of the late Sir Dawda Jawara who has done so much towards the development of this country until Yahya Jammeh seized power in a bloodless 1994 coup.”

According to him, since Gambia got its independent under the rule of Sir Dawda Jawara there was so many challenges because then we were just independent but under his rule, Gambians see the country in another level of development and we are still grateful for the luv and support he gave this country he is a leader that we will always remember.

Mustapha Mbaye said: “the Gambia has achieved a lot within the 55years but has been also going through a lot in the past 22years as we celebrate our 55th independent I wish to see the Gambia in other level of development, job opportunities and easy access to tertiary education because so many students graduated from the university but they did not have access to the university due to economy issues.”

He described education is key in the development of every country, if you educate your citizens, and put them on the right position it was also add to the development of the country and give youths more courage to apply the university because the tuition is lesser or cheaper that everyone can afford it.

Amie Cessay also a business lady said: “I expect a lot to be done in the Gambia noting that a lot has been done during the era of all the three presidents from Sir Dawda, Yahya Jammeh and Adama Barrow but Gambia needs have to come up with bigger achievements in all the sectors to expand the economic growth of the Gambia.”
