A high court judge in Banjul Thursday expressed his intention to deliver judgment in the protracted murder trial involving the embattled former AFPRC junta member and one-time minister, Yankuba Touray before July 2020.
Justice Ebrima Jaiteh made the announcement after the defence wrapped up his cross-examination of the state’s second witness, Ensa Menday when the case resumed this morning for continuation.
Meanwhile the case was adjourned to tomorrow when the state prosecutors are expected to present their third witness.
In order to fast track the proceedings, the court has set aside multiple dates in the months of December, January and February respectively.
Mr Touray is being tried on a charge of murder for his alleged participation in the murder of Ousman “Koro” Ceesay, former finance minister of the defunct AFPRC junta regime who was mysteriously killed in June 1995.Mr Touray however refused to explain or take his plea both at the Truth Commission and court, citing constitutional immunity.
