Gambia’s Ambassador to the African Union Present Letters of Credence

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia is pleased to inform the general public that His Excellency Mr.Sulayman Alieu Jack, The Gambia’s Ambassador to the African Union and who is also the High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya on 3rd September, 2019 presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta at a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Nairobi, Kenya.

High Commissioner Jack conveyed to President Kenyatta the fraternal greetings of His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia and the members of his government.

He expressed the gratitude of The Gambia Government and people for the condolences conveyed and solidarity shown with the Government and people of The Gambia on the unfortunate passing away of His Excellency Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, the First President of the Republic of The Gambia.

High Commissioner Jack also conveyed the commendations of The Gambia Government and people on the historic friendship and solidarity underscoring the strong political will for a stronger and mutually beneficial cooperation between The Gambia and Kenya.

He informed President Kenyatta that The Gambia has embarked on a reform process for the civil service, security and judicial sectors aimed at a more consolidated and inclusive national orientation in the attainment of its national development objectives.

He also informed that The Gambia Government is in the process of implementing a National Development Plan and indicated its readiness to work with the Government of Kenya and the Private Sector on areas critical to achieving its goals such as in the agriculture, education, health, information technology, aviation and construction sectors and on capacity building for the security, judiciary and Foreign Service, forestry and wildlife conservation, SMEs development, etc.

President Kenyatta, in response, reciprocated President Barrow’s and members of his government’s fraternal greetings and requested High Commissioner Jack to transmit the same accordingly. President Kenyatta expressed the commitment of his government and the people of Kenya to continue to build on the enduring spirit of friendship and solidarity prevailing between The Gambia and Kenya.  He further indicated the readiness of his government to work with The Gambia Government in promoting cooperation in areas essential to the attainment of the National Development Agenda.

President Kenyatta welcomed the shared disposition and cooperation between The Gambia and Kenya in promoting sustainable development and a peaceful international order through the International Organisations that the two countries have shared membership of.
