Reveals: Energy from Senegal is Cheaper

“Despite the investment in rural electrification, energy from Senegal is cheaper than our own production cost and as a result, the saving made therein has enabled NAWEC to augment its operating hours in CRR and URR from 9 hours a day to 19 hours a day,” revealed minister of Petroleum and Energy.

Responding to the statement made by Assan Touray, member of Bakau during questioning time at the National Assembly. He asked that minister to explain the rationale behind the power sourcing from Senegal when there is already a huge investment into the rural electrification programme and project.

Fafa Sanyang minister of Petroleum and Energy further said energy from Senegal is available 24/7 while NAWEC can only produce less than 20 hours a day due to high cost of production in the rural area.
