SSFT Donates Mobility Aid to GAPD

Small Step Fee and Trophy Organization (SSFT), a German organization on Tuesday donated the Gambia Association of Physically Disabled (GAPD) with mobility aids at the Department of Social Welfare conference hall, Banjul.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Yahya Bah, President of Gambia Association of the Physical Disabled (GAPD) said the gesture means to advocate for equal rights and equal opportunities for person with disabilities.

Mr. Bah said the German organization aimed at empowering disable people to ensure mitigating their traveling challenges.

“People with disable those mean that they don’t have equal right in the society or in the country because they vote as the able people; therefore, why are they not considered in decision making process,” He asked.

Jankoba Jabbi, director GAPD commended SSFT for the gesture, saying the disable should not be subject to any form of abuse, adding some are born with the disability, other got it by accident while got by infection.

“I’m calling on government to increase their budget in the disable persons,” she appealed.

She further appealed National Assembly Members to also debate on their favor at the parliament so that they have equal right in the society and in the country as others.

Basiru Mballow, board member of GAPD called on government and non- governmental organizations to honor the disable as they have equal rights with the able.
